Every once in a while you discover a great little hotel. You know, one that has a nice combination of décor, friendly staff and that feeling that makes you feel like you’re at home. I recently came across a hotel like this in Osaka. The hotel I am thinking of is the Swissotel Nankai Osaka.
Five star luxury and convenience at an affordable price
The Swissotel is located right on top of the Namba station, linking it directly with the Kansai International Airport. The Rapid Express Train from the airport takes just 30 minutes door-to-door.
The hotel itself provides you with pretty much everything you will need regardless if you are in town on business or just taking a relaxing vacation. There are nine restaurants and bars, an Executive Club lounge, and a Spa & Health Club within the hotel premises. Even better, on the top floor you will find the popular Sky Bar – take your camera when you go up to the Sky Bar and take a few photos of the Osaka skyline.
The rooms are very nice and all are recently renovated to a very high standard. There are an amazing 548 rooms and suites in the hotel, and each one is very nicely decorated and surprisingly roomy considering that most hotels in Japan feel small compared to what we are used to in Europe and North America. It’s the little extras that make this hotel stand out…things like iPod docking stations, HD TV, free WiFi internet access, and gourmet coffee machines.
Combine the direct connection to the airport, the nearby subway, incredibly friendly and helpful staff, and easy access to some of the best shopping in the city, and you have a hotel that rises above the rest. This place is my first choice when I am visiting Osaka. Maybe we will meet in the Sky Bar on my next trip!

- Have breakfast at the breakfast buffet on the top floor and enjoy the sunrise over the city.
- Ask the Concierge for city attraction suggestions; the Concierge knows some of the best kept secrets in the city.
